Argumentum Ad Consequentiam

Argumentum Ad Consequentiam -
a logical fallacy which concludes a certain premise is either true of false based on the (un)desirability of the outcome.

Forms:

If P, then Q will occur.
Q is desirable.
Therefore, P is true.
If P, then Q will occur.
Q is undesirable.
Therefore, P is false.
- Also known as the appeal to consequence
- This fallacy also falls under the broader "appeal to emotion"
